Our Description:GEDCOM files are text files with the .ged extension that are used to transfer genealogy data between different genealogy programs. Some people put their GEDCOMs on the web to enable others to access them. To find people in these files, search for their surnames. To find places, enter the place. Genealogy software programmers may want to search GEDCOMs to find ones created by certain programs or ones containing a specific construct.
