Google Custom Search Engines (CSEs) Selects CustomSearchGuide as a Launch Partner

CustomSearchGuide.com directory of Google Custom Search Engines simplifies finding the best search engines

Marlborough, MA. Moving Traffic, Inc., concurrently with Google's launch of the Google Custom Search Engine (CSE) program, has announced a directory of Google CSEs letting users and webmasters find the best customized search engines for their needs. A CSE is a simple, customized HTML search form which is provided by Google to webmasters when they define a custom search engine on Google's site. As a Google Launch Partner, Moving Traffic is including in www.customsearchguide.com information on all of the CSEs created by the other Google's Launch Partners for this program, and in addition has provided several CSEs of its own.

"Google's Custom Search Engine initiative lets human editors across the globe to build on Google's automated search algorithm to develop superior vertical search engines. The best CSEs will tend to be narrow in focus and easy to create, so we expect to see thousands of high quality specialized search engines distributed across the Internet," said Eric Enge, VP of Marketing at Moving Traffic. "Because of this, we saw the need for a fast and simple way to help users find, organize, and rate CSEs. We also are offering users a method for providing feedback to improve CSE quality."

CustomSearchGuide.com finds, reviews, ranks, and lists CSEs by topic. Moving Traffic editors review and rate CSEs, and users can also rate CSEs. Both ratings are provided in an easy to use interface that makes it easy for users to select CSEs that are likely to provide them with better results. Users are also provided a mechanism for making suggestions about how to improve a CSE.

CSE developers may include their Google CSEs in the CustomSearchGuide directory free of charge. If a CSE creator desires, CustomSearchGuide can provide the CSE's HTML for copying and use by other webmasters and bloggers on their own pages.

CustomSearchGuide also includes supporting articles on the Google Custom Search Engine program such as tips on creating quality CSEs. This information can be found at: [www.customsearchguides.com/creating-quality-cses.shtml.com] www.customsearchguides.com/creating-quality-cses.shtml.com

Google Custom Search Engine (CSE) Talking Points

Listed below are a list of key points associated with the CSE press announcement above:

  • CSE addresses the need for a human edited element in today's computer -based search algorithms
  • This development creates competition for purely human-edited directories such as DMOZ and Yahoo's Directory. CSE is an attempt to blend computer-based algorithms with human knowledge of quality web sites to create a more perfect search engine.
  • Google's CSE opens the door to an unlimited number of specialized searches that were previously only possible with hundreds or thousands of hours of expensive programming. CSE will be accessible to any subject expert with a strong list of quality web sites on their topic.
  • CSE may spawn a number of formal and informal collaborative custom search projects focused on particular topics of interest.
  • CSE may fuel a new cottage industry of custom search developers who focus on creating topic-specific search engines
  • Developers are free to distribute their custom search engines to third party web sites.
  • Custom Search has been around for a while (e.g., Rollyo and Swicki) but CSEs are built on Google Search.
  • Unlike other custom search initiatives, you can now monetize your search with Google Adsense.
